Music // *McBusted @ LG Arena Birmingham*

So at the beginning of the month myself and my little sister went to see McBusted at the LG Arena in Birmingham and must say it was awesome!

There was a bit of everything back to the future theme, spaceships, pyrotechnics, giant inflatable balls and inflatable triple boobs! And to make it even more exciting Fearne Cotton was there filming Fearne and McBusted! I have previously been to see Busted once when I was 13 and  McFly last year and both groups are both born performers but together it was even more a spectacle!

They started of the show with the 2005 Busted press conference of when Busted announced there split, from there Matt and James head back to 2014 back to the future style (in an actual Delorean entering the stage!) to join McFly. Matt and James emerge from the Delorean, to deafening screams filling the arena and then out jump the members of McFly from the stage and the opening chords of Air Hostess! It was a great start to the show and adrenaline was pumping throughout.

They continued to play comfortably as a group, singing it each others songs with vocals spread equally, including Five Colours in her Hair, Obviously, Sleeping with the Light on and Shine a Light.

The amazing set got even better when halfway through the show the supergroup descended from the roof of the arena on a spaceship! Busting out Stargirl (one of my personal favourites) the arena went wild!

Tom's wedding speech was shown as a banter filled version in which Matt and James hi-jack Tom and then burst into Crashed the Wedding which included A LOT of running around the stage and Matt Willis in a wedding dress!

The concert ended with All About You in which a majority of the crowd sang and ended with a very energetic Year 3000 (another of my personal faves).

Overall, I want to go again!

Thanks for reading, hope anyone else going to see them has as great a time I did!

Theatre // *Hairspray @ Curve Theatre Leicester*

As many people may know I have seen countless musicals, plays, dance pieces performed at the Curve Theatre in Leicester, but I can say honestly that Paul Kerryson's Hairspray is the best I have seen yet!

On this occasion I didn't get to see the show until it was in it's final week, as we were going for my mother's birthday. Hairspray had a five weeks run from Friday 28th February through until Saturday 5th April. It is an infectious and heart-warming musical that was fun for everyone and it is a huge shame it is over now!

On the outside Hairspray is a fun-filled musical, but the underneath issues of segregation and racism are touched upon in this show wonderfully. From the get go of the first few chords of "Good Morning Baltimore" sang by lead protagonist Tracey Turnblad by Rebecca Craven (Waterloo Road), I had the biggest grin on my face.

The highlights of the show for me personally include the duet between Tracey's parents Edna and Wilbur played by the lovely Damian Williams and John Barr, each seemed to have a real passion and enjoyment of what they were doing. Claudia Kariuki as Motormouth Maybelle had me an emotional wreck during her rendition of "I know where I've been" and of course the finale song "You Can't Stop the Beat" I loved having the excuse to get up and dance when the cast egged the audience on!

As a whole the cast performed brilliantly; Zizi Strallen as Penny Pingleton had me in stitches the entire way through, Tyrone Huntley as Seaweed worked some magic on that stage and David Witts as Link Larkin didn't entirely do it for me, maybe he was a bit too sweet for me (I don't really do pretty boys ha). But on the whole I was captivated by this show and have been singing the songs continuously since especially "Mama I'm a big girl now".

Thank you for taking the time to read!

Upcoming reviews will include McBusted @ NEC, Miley Cyrus @ NEC & Birdsong @ Curve.

Lifestyle // *A Short Update...*

Hello everyone, sorry for being absent for the last two weeks, I have been mentally busy with both my jobs, volunteering and being ill (had a terrible cold!). I'm going to a short update of what I have been up to!

Two Saturdays ago myself and Luke went a wedding reception of one of Luke's friends. I struggled finding something nice to wear because of every shop being full of rejected sale clothes (I don't do sales, only online!). I came across this lovely red dress in New Look (see it here) and thought it would be perfect! I paired with a pair of suede heels from New Look, my H&M leather jacket and some Primark black frilly socks.

I also purchased, during that week, some beauty buys. I got the Benefit Brow Zings brow shaping kit from John Lewis with some Christmas money I had received. I am a massive Bourjois fan so decided to buy one of their Smokey Eyes eyeshadow trios, I got the brown one Nude Ingenu. I'm eyeing up the rose pink one now! I also purchased Bourjois little pot of blusher in Rose de Jaspe the perfect pink tone for my pale skin!

sorry about the awful quality of this picture, I really need a
decent camera!

I purchased this amazing bodysuit from Abandon Ship Apparel in their sale for just £15. (Unfortunately for me it got reduced further to £10!) They have just released a new collection of t-shirts which look amazing. I'm hoping they release a new ladies collection too! Check them out! Abandon Ship Apparel.

I am a massive cat lady so absolutely love the pattern on this body and it is a lovely fit, made with great quality fabric! Definitely going to be shopping with them again. I also own the leggings in this pattern! (Super crazy cat lady!).

Also during this week it was Luke's 24th birthday. I unfortunately had to work all day but we went for a nice family meal at a local pub to celebrate. I treated him to some money towards headphones he wanted and two Adventure Time comic Volume 2 and Volume 3 (I got him Volume 1 for Christmas).

The following weekend I had a mini haul in Primark where I purchased this super cute fluffy polo jumper for just £10, I couldn't resist. I think I'm going through a pastel phase. I also bought myself a cute water bottle with pink and blue owls on it for £2 and an amazing smelling candle, sweet vanilla and coconut, for £2. I'm a fiend for a candle.

I also had a Boots haul (as everyone must every now and again) and purchased Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo. If you haven't used dry shampoo you haven't lived, I depend on it so much on early mornings when I sleep a bit longer than I should. I also purchased Bleach London Reincarnation Mask for dyed hair, I am yet to try this but when I do I will let you know the results. I'm planning on using tonight as part of my weekend chill time. I spotted the Rimmel Stay Matte foundation which I had my eye on for a while. I find it quite thick but it is a long lasting foundation that I think will grow on me. I think I'm just not used to the mousse substance after using a liquid foundation for so long. I treated myself to a new eyebrow pencil as I only had a super dark one. I went for the Maybelline Master Shape Pencil, its a great colour match (I got blonde) but the crayon goes down very quickly so I doubt I will be repurchasing! I'll go through them too quickly! I also couldn't resist buying some Barry M nail polishes. I got two of the matte styles in some nice neutral colours. I purchased Caramel and Vanilla and absolutely love them!

As I said at the beginning I have been very busy and this week I spent Wednesday through to Saturday dancing in a Pantomine, which was a lot of fun with some lovely girls. Hopefully they won't mind me sharing this photo!

Anyway that is all from me! I promise I will try my best to post more regularly!
Thanks for reading!

Lifestyle // *New Year Goals*

My personal goals for this year are:

  1. Pay of my remaining student overdraft, then I can open a savings account.
  2. Start saving money to go towards a house and car.
  3. Hopefully get onto a PGCE.
  4. Pass my driving and theory test.

My health resolutions for this year are:

  1. Have at least one cup of green tea a day.
  2. Eat more fruit and veg.
  3. Be more sensible with alcohol! No binges.
  4. Cut down on the crap.. chocolate, crisps, takeaways, fizzy pop.

I am also going to try and keep healthy this year. I work a lot so always feel groggy and tired, so hopefully eating better and exercising will help.

What are your new years resolutions for 2014?

Theatre // *Chicago @ Curve Theatre Leicester*

Happy New Year everyone!
Hope everyone celebrating seeing off 2013 in style.

I think I certainly did my attending the New Years Eve matinee performance of Chicago at Curve Theatre in Leicester. Directed by Curve's own Paul Kerryson it was a spectacular show. Anyone that has seen the West End touring version like myself (I saw it back in 2007 at Milton Keynes Theatre) can expect a completely different approach. Think extremely camp performers and minimalist set!

Chicago is one of my favourite musicals (closely followed by The Lion King & Phantom of the Opera) and this version certainly did not disappoint. The set design was very minimalist but that is usually the way it is with the shows produced at Curve. The costumes were very well designed and suited this uber camped up show to a tee! You cannot find any words to fault the dancers, all in sync and amazingly flexible, which is what you like to see in a show like Chicago.

My highlights of the show were Sandra Marvin stealing the stage as Mama Morton, especially with a spectacular finishing note to When You're Good To Mama, still now it is one of the things that stands out from the production; Gemma Sutton dazzled as Roxie Hart and her rendition of Funny Honey was brilliant, also Mama Morton and Velma Kelly (performed by Verity Rushworth) singing Class with beautifully in sync voices. Anyway I am basically saying you should go see Chicago at Curve! It's running until the 18th January and definitely worth a watch!

Curve is a fantastic theatre, that has had many amazing casts and shows come through it's doors! The highlight of the coming year is certain to be Hairspray directed again by Paul Kerryson. So if you haven't booked tickets to see that you definitely should!

Thanks for reading!
